Networking for Clean Tech sector Professionals

The Clean Tech Network is the UKs only on-line, fortnightly networking session for businesses, investors and researchers in the Clean Tech sector

Stop working in isolation – be part of the Clean Tech Community

Business networking is proven to deliver benefits. By engaging with others in your field, you will make relevant connections, gain sector specific insight, forge partnerships and working relationships, and have the opportunity to showcase yourself and your business to your peers.

On-line networking enables you, for the first time, to engage regularly with professionals from anywhere in the UK or indeed the World.

Our network delivers these benefits to professionals specifically in the Clean Tech and Environmental Goods and Services sector by linking Businesses, Investors and Research based organisations in one platform.

Your Network is your sales force.

It takes several interactions with a person to know, like and trust them, which is why regular networking works so well. The relationships formed by regular networking are demonstrably stronger and of more benefit to your business.

By joining the Clean Tech Network, you WILL gain significantly greater insight into this sector.

For Businesses.

You might have heard the saying ‘work ON your business, not IN it’. It is absolutely valid. Your job is to develop and grow your business. A couple of hours a fortnight working ON your business by networking with your peers is one of the best investments you can make.

The network not only connects your sector peers, it connects you with potential investors, and with research partners.

For Researchers

Universities and research bodies engage with private businesses, to whom they have an enormous amount to offer. This sector is all about technological innovation. By joining the Network, you can immediately showcase your research capabilities directly to businesses in this sector.

You will also connect with other Universities and research bodies to share knowledge and insight, and forge collaborations.

For Investors

This Network is the only forum where investors can meet and get to know entrepreneurs and businesses in this growing sector without the pressure of formal pitches and business plans.

By using the network, you can choose which businesses you like and want to engage with.

How it works

The Network sessions are held fortnightly, on a weekday morning between 10am and 11.30. We use the Zoom platform.

Each group is assigned a regular day of the week. This is to keep the numbers within each group manageable and useful. The ideal is about 30.

The sessions start with a brief welcome and introduction from the host.

We then have either member presentations, or external speakers on topics which are relevant to the group. All members are encouraged to make presentations.

We then use breakout rooms to split the group into smaller numbers – four or five per room – for brief introductions and to chat. After 15-20 minutes, the rooms are rearranged, members reassigned and the process repeated.  The session is concluded afterwards.

Each member is able to switch group once within each 12 month period.

Mutual LinkedIn article support

Members also get access to a What’s App group for the purpose of notifying the group and pasting links to their LinkedIn posts. Other members can then interact with those posts and articles in order the help them gain traction.

The Culture

Unlike some general business networking groups, ours is not rules-based. We do however encourage our members to follow the culture and tone

Give everyone else the opportunity to speak.

Be respectful

It’s not about passing business, it’s about connections, insight and knowledge.

Don’t hard-sell

Attend regularly. You want people to know, like and trust you, and that does not happen instantly.

Above all, enjoy the sessions.
